‘Happy’s Place’ Amplifies Star Power for Season 2 with ‘Taxi’ Reunion
NBC’s ‘Happy’s Place’ is set to amplify its star power by welcoming Christopher Lloyd, Carol Kane, and Cheri Oteri to guest star in the upcoming Season 2. As the sitcom’s second season premieres this fall, fans are promised plenty of surprises with several TV legends popping by the bar.
‘Happy’s Place’ is a creation by Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott. The show follows the life of Bobbie, played by Reba McEntire, who inherits her father’s tavern only to discover that she has a new business partner, a twentysomething half-sister named Isabella, portrayed by Belissa Escobedo, whom she never knew she had. The second installment of the series sees ‘Happy’s Place’ welcoming its patrons once more, with a long-buried secret that promises to test loyalties and significantly stir things up inside the tavern. The underlying message that the series aims to convey is that family isn’t bound by blood, but by the people who stand beside you, including those in the workplace.
Season 2 is set to premiere on November 7, and draws a significant amount of anticipation as it will feature prominent stars from the popular sitcom, ‘Taxi’. Christopher Lloyd, known for his roles in ‘Taxi’ and ‘Back to the Future’, will guest star as Clive, a gentleman who loses his phone at Happy’s Place and returns to retrieve it. Carol Kane, another ‘Taxi’ alum who was also part of ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’, will portray Theresa, a free-spirited woman on the hunt for justice, adventure, and her husband, Clive. ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum, Cheri Oteri, also joins the fray as Monica, a stern health inspector who takes her job incredibly seriously and doesn’t spare any effort to ensure cleanliness.
The series also stars Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn, alongside McEntire and Escobedo. This star-studded cast is anticipated to bring a mix of comedy and drama that is certain to capture the viewers’ attention.
The addition of characters from ‘Taxi’ is a notable highlight of Season 2. ‘Taxi’ is a renowned sitcom that ran for five seasons, starting on ABC from 1978 to 1982, and then on NBC from 1982 to 1983. The sitcom revolved around the lives of employees at the Sunshine Cab Company in New York. Christopher Lloyd portrayed the eccentric Reverend Jim “Iggy” Ignatowski, while Carol Kane portrayed Simka Gravas, the wife of Latka (Andy Kaufman). The series also starred many well-known faces including Judd Hirsch, Danny DeVito, Jeff Conaway, and Marilu Henner, among others.
‘Happy’s Place’ is executive produced by writer Kevin Abbott, Reba McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman, and is a production of Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. With such a strong team behind the scenes and a powerful cast, viewers have high expectations for the upcoming season.
