The Highlights of Golden Globes 2025: As it Happened
The year 2025 started on a high note in Hollywood with the 82nd annual Golden Globes, an event that recognizes and celebrates the best in film and television. If you missed out on the ceremony, here is a comprehensive rundown of what transpired during this spectacular event.
A Night Filled With Stars
Being the first major award show of the year, the Golden Globes sets the momentum for the rest of the year. Referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year”, the night was filled with entertainment, laughter, and memorable moments. The event was broadcast live on CBS television stations, allowing viewers to join in on the celebration from the comfort of their homes.
Live Streaming the Golden Globes
With the ongoing digital transformation, not everyone is tied to the traditional cable TV, and the Golden Globes understands this all too well. For streamers, the awards were live on Paramount+, a streaming platform where the show was available live and on-demand for subscribers. Paramount+ Essential subscribers also had the privilege to stream the show the following day.
Red Carpet Highlights
The glamour and excitement weren’t only on the stage but also on the red carpet. The official live digital pre-show for the 82nd Annual Golden Globes was hosted in partnership with Entertainment Tonight and Variety. The event was brought to life by ET correspondent Rachel Smith and Variety’s Marc Malkin.
And the Golden Globe Goes to…
The night was not complete without the announcement of the winners. “The Brutalist” emerged as the winner for best drama film and took home awards for acting and directing. “Emilia Pérez” also had a significant win, earning the best motion picture win in the musical or comedy category. On the television front, “Hacks” and “Shōgun” won best comedy and best drama, respectively.
Special Recognition
The event also saw two Golden Globe-winning performers, Viola Davis and Ted Danson, being honored with special awards. Davis was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award, while Danson received the Carol Burnett Award, in celebration of their exceptional contributions to the industry.
Breaking Ground on the Hosting Front
There was a historical moment during the event as comedian Nikki Glaser became the first woman to solo host the Golden Globe Awards. Glaser, who was announced as the host in August, following a breakout performance during Comedy Central’s “The Roast of Tom Brady”, was given some advice by former Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais. He told her, “Just be yourself. You’re not one of them. Don’t try to walk out there acting like you’re an A-lister just because you’re invited.”
The Venue
The award show was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, a venue known for its glamour and sophistication, fitting perfectly with the Golden Globe’s reputation.
In conclusion, the Golden Globes 2025 was a night to remember, as it celebrated the best in film and television while also marking historical milestones. If you missed it, be sure to catch up with the highlights, because this is an event that sets the tone for Hollywood’s film and television scene for the rest of the year.
