Fantasy Basketball: Bol Bol’s Breakout Performance and More
As the NBA schedule intensifies towards the All-Star break, the Fantasy Basketball world is abuzz with activity. The thrill of the game keeps us glued to our screens as we hope for our players to perform exceptionally, and sometimes, they exceed our expectations. One such player that has caught the spotlight recently is Bol Bol, who made a significant impact on Tuesday’s NBA slate.
The slate featured just four games, a quiet prelude before the storm of action that Wednesday promised, with all 30 teams in the Association taking to the court. The New York team steamrolled over Indiana, with a whopping 70 combined points from Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson. Meanwhile, Precious Achiuwa filled in admirably for the absent OG Anunoby, delivering a solid performance with nine points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and a swat. Achiuwa is currently rostered in only 16% of fantasy leagues, making him an attractive option for managers looking for a one-game stand-in if Anunoby continues to sit out.
Thomas Bryant, rostered in just 8% of leagues, filled in for Myles Turner with an impressive 18/9/4 line, a blocked shot, and a triple. With Turner slated to sit out on Wednesday, Bryant is another intriguing option for managers in need of big man help. On the other end of the court, Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley powered the Raptors past the 76ers, despite a lackluster performance from Tyrese Maxey.
The highlight of the night, however, was the Bulls’ game against the Pistons. Despite a disappointing 29-point first half and a 40-point loss, there was one bright spot for Detroit: Malik Beasley, rostered in 40% of leagues, fired seven triples in just 16 minutes to lead all scorers. Beasley’s performance places him in the Pistons’ history books, now holding the single-season record for made three-pointers, surpassing Saddiq Bey’s 211 in the 2021-22 season. Beasley, still available in 60% of fantasy leagues, is a valuable addition for managers looking for points and triples.
The night’s biggest surprise, though, came in the form of Bol Bol. After nearly two years on the bench, Bol drew his first start and stole the show. He ended the night second in scoring only to Kevin Durant, delivering monster defensive stats, game-high rebounds, and significant three-pointers. This stellar performance instantly brought back memories of Bol’s past fantasy heroics and led to a wave of excitement among fans and managers.
With Bradley Beal still out, it’s hard to imagine Coach Bud keeping Bol out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game. If you haven’t already, Bol is definitely one to pick off the waiver wire and stream confidently. As the NBA heads into All-Star break, it seems the fantasy world is in for some incredible performances. Who knows who the next breakout star might be?
